This year, the Draconids meteor shower was predicted to be particularly spectacular. So I set up two cameras—my own Sony Alpha 900, and a borrowed Alpha 580 which my father has recently bought. One at my living room window, the other in the bedroom, looking in the opposite direction. The skies are clear, so the fireworks should be visible.
The 3/4 full moon is a bit of a problem, but given the expected intensity of the shower, or so I think, something should be visible.
Epic Fail. After over four hours of photography and the following processing: nothing. Rien. Nada. Zilch. Not even an airplane’s light track. Optically, there was not much more; I saw a very few, very weak meteors, but with most of those sightings I am not even certain that they were not optical illusions. I break off observation when the moon enters the field of view of the Alpha 900.
