These pages contain the astronomy blog of Karsten Dykow.
This blog is not concerned with current astronomical news and events. It is intended to illustrate my career as an amateur astronomer, in the hope to save the reader from repeating my mistakes. Also, I hope to achieve a certain entertainment value.
Beginning with a decades-long fascination with astronomy but without the opportunity for practical observation, in 2007 I could for the first time bring up the necessary time and money for the required equipment and its application. My previous blog, which contained many posts detailing my beginnings in this hobby, unfortunately fell victim to an unintended clean-up operation by the hosting company, and so for a while I also lost my incentive for blogging. This is the continuation of the Astroblog with different means, different hosting company, and hopefully more posts.
As of 30 September, 2011 another writer is involved in this blog: the ardent reader and commenter Erla, who will describe her own experiences. After a few very nicely-written and descriptive comments, I believe her input is going to be an enrichment of this blog.
The plugin which enabled the multilanguage support for this site has not been updated since early 2014 and is no longer working properly (as you probably have noticed already). A new plugin is plugged in, but working over the content will take a bit. Everything will be back to normal in a reasonable amount of time, though.
Enjoy,
Karsten Dykow
